ProctorU is an online proctoring service that allows students to take exams online while ensuring the integrity of the exam for the institution. If you are teaching an undergraduate course and want to use ProctorU as a proctoring solution, ProctorU's Record+ tool is available at no cost to students.

Proctors monitor exam takers by:

1. Authenticating the test taker’s identity to ensure that the person being monitored is the correct student.
2. Observing the test taker via a webcam.
3. Recording the test taker's screen in real time so that a proctor can review everything the student does at both the location and on screen. If the review flags any questionable behavior, the instructor is notified so that the instructor has the final determination if any violation of academic integrity has occurred.

It is recommended that ProctorU only be used for "high stakes" assessments, such as midterm and final exams.

Technical requirements

• PC: A reliable computer running Windows XP or higher with 500 MB of RAM or higher
• Mac: A reliable computer running Mac OS 10 or higher
• Webcam with 640x480 video pixel resolution
• Headphones or working speakers connected to the computer
• Microphone connected to the computer (we recommend having a webcam that has a built-in microphone)
• Reliable high speed Internet connection (minimum 768 Kbps/128 Kbps)
• Authority to allow remote access to your computer and screen by one of our proctors
