Advanced Level Exams (A Levels)

Proficiency credit is awarded on the basis of sufficiently high scores (grades C and above) on most A-Level exams and is subject to change upon annual review. The policies below apply to all students entering the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Summer 2015, Fall 2015, or Spring 2016.

If a student takes an equivalent course for part of the A-Level at Illinois, only partial credit will be awarded. All grades will be posted as "credit.”

New undergraduate students who have not already earned college-level credit in the subject are allowed to take an Urbana departmental proficiency exam in the sciences and /or humanities if they wish to try to proficiency out of an introductory course. Click here for details. For subjects not listed in the table below, the Advanced Level course syllabus must be reviewed by the appropriate college or department to determine if there is an Urbana course equivalent.

All A-Levels are processed by the Office of Undergraduate International Admissions. You may contact them via email or phone (217-333-0302).
