Rhetoric

Placement into the Rhetoric courses is based on the student’s highest ACT English or SAT Critical Reading score unless the student is required to take the English as a Second Language Placement Test (known as "the EPT"). Cutoff scores, placement recommendations, and proficiency credit policies are derived in collaboration with the Division of Rhetoric in the Department of English and are reviewed annually. The policies below apply to all students entering the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Summer 2015, Fall 2015, or Spring 2016.

Transfer students: If you have earned at least one hour of college-level composition credit in an academic writing course but not enough credit to fulfill the Composition I General Education requirement, you will enroll in RHET 233. Please discuss scheduling options with your advisor.
