If you haven't taken any college-level composition course, we will use your best ACT English or SAT Critical Reading score. If you have taken a college-level composition course, then your Rhetoric placement is based on your previously taken, transferable English courses. You must enroll in RHET 233 if you have earned at least one hour of transferable credit for academic writing but not enough to fulfill the Composition I requirement.

Math (ALEKS)

Only if you plan to enroll in a Calculus I or a lower-level math class

Chemistry

Only if you have high school credit in chemistry, and you have NOT earned college credit in chemistry, and you plan to take chemistry at Illinois. Check your handbook.

Physics

Only if you are required to take PHYS 211. Check your handbook.

English as a Second Language

Only if your letter of admission states this

Language Other
Than English (LOTE)

Check your handbook. The Gen Ed Language Requirement for most programs of study is satisfied by completion of three years of one LOTE in high school or through the third level (3 semesters) of one LOTE in college. Students completing programs of study in Art History, Music History, and Music/Vocal Performance have different Language Requirements for graduation. Please consult with each department’s academic advisor or the FAA college office for the specific Language Requirements for your program of study.
