Placement into the Rhetoric courses is based on the student’s highest ACT English or SAT Critical Reading score. Cutoff scores, placement recommendations, and proficiency credit policies are derived in collaboration with the Division of Rhetoric in the Department of English and are reviewed annually. The policies below apply to all students entering Illinois in Summer 2016, Fall 2016, or Spring 2017.
Transfer students: If you have earned at least one hour of college-level composition credit in an academic writing course but not enough credit to fulfill the 'Composition I' General Education requirement, you will be enrolling in RHET 233. Please discuss scheduling options with your advisor.
