About

As CITL's Assistant Director for Teaching & Learning Experiences, Marc Thompson, PhD, leads CITL's Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Team responsible for helping instructors, designers, and eLearning professionals create more inclusive and accessible learning experiences for all students. As our campus Quality Matters (QM) Coordinator and a QM-certified Peer Reviewer, Marc also provides leadership and oversight for the QM online course quality framework and oversees CITL's course quality review process to ensure online courses developed with CITL meet nationally recognized standards for instructional design and student success. In the area of teaching, Marc serves as the Program Director and an instructor for the award-winning Information Accessibility Design & Policy (IADP) program offered through U of I's Speech and Hearing Science department. With over 38 years of teaching experience, including 27+ years in the online environment, Marc currently leads the Education and Training Implementation Team for the university’s ADA Title II Update initiative. He has presented at numerous conferences and workshops on the teaching of accessibility, UDL, and creating accessible course content. His book chapter, “Three Approaches to Teaching Accessibility & Inclusive Design,” appears in A Guide to Digital Accessibility (2023).
