Course and Syllabus Templates

The course template contains a representative course module along with an accessible syllabus in Canvas page format (HTML) and an Accessible Syllabus Template in MS Word Format (.docx).

Accessible Canvas Template Instructions

The Accessible Canvas Course Template is located in the Canvas Commons area and can be downloaded and easily imported into an empty Canvas shell to create a working Canvas course template. You can request an empty Canvas course using the Illinois Canvas Space Request Tool.

Template Import Instructions

  1. Visit the CITL Accessible Course Template in Canvas Commons.
  2. Use the Import/Download button to activate the Import/Download interface.
  3. Use the Search tool to locate and select the Canvas course to import the template into.
  4. Use the Import into Course button at the bottom of the Import/Download interface to import the template into the course you selected.
LMS Checklists (Canvas, Moodle, Coursera)

These Learning Management System (LMS) checklists are designed to help you create accessible course content. The first checklist is LMS-agnostic, followed by platform-specific lists. Authoring accessible content enhances the learning experience for all students.
