Being Inclusive

We pride ourselves on having a diverse student population. In our entering cohort of students in Fall 2015, over 50 percent were in the top decile, 17 percent identified as underrepresented students, and 20.5 percent were first generation students. Campus-wide, we have a record 3,151 new international students and 1,640 students registered to receive academic support services from Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES). Located on our campus website is our promise “to provide our undergraduate students with truly transformative education experiences. Whether these experiences take place in the classroom, in the surrounding community, or around the globe, our students leave this campus with the skills, knowledge, and drive to become leaders in their fields and to lead lives of impact in the world."

Our campus is committed to creating a learning and working environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and affirming, as evidenced by Illinois being recognized by Insight Into Diversity magazine as a recipient of its 2016 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award for the fourth year in a row. Our campus strives to maximize teaching and learning opportunities, in which we can bring out the best in our students.
