Big Ten Student Design Challenge

Oct 28, 2019, 16:08 PM

Calling all creative students! You are invited to compete in the Big Ten Student Design Challenge, a national competition sponsored by the Herman Miller furniture company and CIOs from the Big Ten college campuses. The goal is to use design thinking and creativity to reimagine a space on this campus: the Art Annex 2.

Here’s how it works:

1) Visit the Big Ten Student Design Challenge website and request a packet of info and a proposal template.

2) Assemble a team of 3-5 students and think creatively about how space can be improved.

3) Download a scoring rubric, Herman Miller catalog, and other info from the website.

4) Follow the instructions and submit your proposal by November 26.

The best proposal from each school will be judged against other Big Ten campuses. The top three teams win a trip to Herman Miller headquarters, where they will receive help from industry professionals and pitch their ideas to a panel of design experts. One winning team will receive a $2,000 cash prize, and their proposal will be funded (up to $80K) to be built next summer.
