Reimagining Student Assessment: Embracing Universal Design for Grading (UDG)

Are you looking for innovative ways to assess student learning? Join us for the Universal Design for Grading (UDG) workshop on August 8 at 11 a.m. in Armory. This workshop will help instructors from all disciplines explore diverse grading methodologies, discover the benefits of alternative approaches, and move beyond traditional exams. Participants will enjoy an introductory session on UDG, hands-on exploration of new grading techniques, and opportunities for collaboration with fellow educators. A complimentary lunch will be provided. Registration is open now.

Help with Microteaching!

We are still looking for volunteer instructors to facilitate Microteaching at the August 2024 Graduate Academy for College Teaching (TA Training). A Microteaching facilitator helps new TAs feel welcome, provides thoughtful feedback on short practice lessons offered by new TAs, and runs a small group discussion with new TAs to reflect on the practice lessons. It’s usually fun, and you get to learn a little bit about several different topics. Time commitment is 3-5 hours, including training. Microteaching takes place in-person on campus throughout the day on Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22. If you have a little (or a lot of) teaching experience, we can use your help. Contact Lucas Anderson at lander23@illinois.edu if you are interested.
