Placement into Rhetoric courses is based on the student’s highest ACT
English or SAT Critical Reading score. Cutoff scores, placement messages,
and proficiency credit policies are derived in collaboration with the
Division of Rhetoric in the Department of English and are reviewed annually.
The policies below apply to all students Entering Illinois in Summer 2011,
Fall 2011, or Spring 2012.
