Placement into the Rhetoric courses is based on the student’s highest ACT
English or SAT Critical Reading score. Cutoff scores, placement recommendations,
and proficiency credit policies are derived in collaboration with the
Division of Rhetoric in the Department of English and are reviewed annually.
The policies below apply to all students entering the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Summer 2012, Fall 2012, or Spring 2013.
Transfer students: If you have earned at least one hour of college-level composition credit in an academic writing course but not enough credit to fulfill the Composition I General Education requirement, you should consider enrolling in RHET 233. Please discuss options with your advisor.
