Placement into the introductory Physics courses is based on the student's score on the Physics Placement Exam. Cutoff scores and placement recommendations are derived in collaboration with the Physics Department and are reviewed annually. The policies below apply to all students entering the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Summer 2018, Fall 2018, or Spring 2019.

The online Physics Placement Test does not award academic credit. If you wish to take a physics proficiency exam, check the schedule, as they are offered at the beginning of each fall and spring semester and sometimes during Finals Week.
