Description:

The Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (through the Armory Innovation Spaces) is hosting a variety of hands-on emerging technology topics for beginners. Workshops are open to everyone. (Note: workshops can count towards the Certificate in Teaching-Enhanced Technology, but may require a short reflection paper.)

All workshops are free and scheduled to last one hour. Participation requirements are listed, below.

360° Cameras and Virtual Reality with GoPro Fusion and HTC Vive – Thursday, April 26th at 11am at the Innovation Studio/VR Lab (172/173 Armory)

  • Learn to capture 360 spherical images and videos. From this content, create your own virtual reality experiences. Participants, in groups, will record a 360° video which we then experience in an HTC Vive virtual reality headset.

In this hands-on workshop participants will practice building and organizing content within the Illinois Compass 2g environment, including teaching tools and the Grade Center. The workshop facilitator will also provide examples of best practices drawn from research on teaching and learning in both online and face-to-face settings.

iFLEX Innovation Classroom: 182 Armory

The iFLEX Innovation Classroom is part of a constellation of Armory Innovation Spaces offering students and faculty a truly unique classroom experience to explore, share, and create.

The iFLEX Innovation Classroom is the first general assignment classroom to combine mixed furniture styles, enhanced writing surfaces, collaborative technologies, project work space, and temporary storage into a single learning environment. Fully reconfigurable with seating for 45, this newest addition to the iFLEX family offers faculty and students a versatile meeting space for instruction, research, and scheduled events.
