Latin Placement

Cutoff Scores and Placement Messages for 2018-2019

Placement into the Latin courses is based on the student's score on the Latin Placement Exam. Cutoff scores and placement recommendations are derived in collaboration with the Classics Department and are reviewed annually. The policies below apply to all students entering the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Summer 2018, Fall 2018, or Spring 2019.

The online Latin Placement Test does not award academic credit. For information on taking a Latin Proficiency Exam, contact the Classics Department by calling 217-333-1008 during business hours or emailing classics@illinois.edu

0 - 14 Placed into LAT 101; This placement is a recommendation only. Student should email LatinProgram@illinois.edu for specific enrollment advice.
15 - 28 Placed into LAT 102; This placement is a recommendation only. Student should email LatinProgram@illinois.edu for specific enrollment advice.
29 - 41 Placed into LAT 201; This placement is a recommendation only. Student should email LatinProgram@illinois.edu for specific enrollment advice.
42 - 54 Placed into LAT 202; This placement is a recommendation only. Student should email LatinProgram@illinois.edu for specific enrollment advice.
55 - 62 Placed into LAT 401 or beyond; This placement is a recommendation only. Student should email LatinProgram@illinois.edu for specific enrollment advice.
