Placement into the French courses is based on a combination of the number of years the student studied French in high school and the student's score on the French Placement Exam. Cutoff scores and placement messages are derived in collaboration with the French Department and are reviewed annually. The policies below apply to all students entering Illinois in Summer 2016, Fall 2016, or Spring 2017.
The online French Placement Exam does not award proficiency credit.
