Advanced Level Exams (A-Levels)

Cutoff Scores, Placement Messages, and Credit Policies

If you took the exam through Cambridge, email international-admissions@illinois.edu with your UIN, date of birth, candidate number, centre number and series of the exam. Examinations taken through another board need to be submitted via an approved vendor or mailed in.

Proficiency credit is awarded for most Advanced Level exams on the basis of sufficiently high scores (grades of C and higher) and is subject to change upon annual review. Please note that AS Levels are not the same as A Levels. Typically, the syllabus content for an AS Level course is half the content for an A Level course. Illinois does not accept AS Level test scores for either course placement or course proficiency credit.

A-Levels are transfer credit and processed by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. To learn more about which A-Levels Illinois accepts, course and credit hours, please access the Office of Undergraduate Admissions website at: A-Level Policies.

Questions? Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. All A Level credit is processed through Undergraduate Admissions. Be sure to ask to speak to an international admissions specialist.
